10/14 Elizabeth Lane Memorial
approx. 50m. E of Baldon House

GV II

Memorial urn. Late C18. Limestone. Carved urn has fluted cover with finial, and
handles in the ford of interlacing snakes. Square foot is inscribed "M.S./
ELISABETHAE LANE" and stands on a square stone pedestal with enriched moulded
base and cap. Face of pedestal is carved with a suspended cloth inscribed "HOC
QUALECUNQUE/PIETATIS SUAE/ANIMIQUE GRATI/MONUMENTUN/POSUIT/C:W". The monument
was removed from the wood where it formed a landscape feature erected by Sir
Christopher Willoughby.
