GV II*

Dovecote. C16. Red brick with some vitrified headers; old plain-tile roof.
Octagonal plan. Single storey. Walls have a corbel table of moulded bricks
forming trefoiled arches; grey vitrified headers form patterns of horizontal
zig-zag, diaper and Flemish-bond chequer on wall surfaces below. Doorway and
3-light casement are later insertions. Roof has 4 small dormer openings and a
low central glover. Interior: circular plan. Walls have tiers of nesting boxes.
Roof has butt purlins and is probably largely original. Formed part of the
formal gardens of Ascott Park.
