Description

STADHAMPTON CHISELHANPTON
SU59NE
5/142 Gotham Farmhouse

- II

Farmhouse. Mid/late C17. Coursed limestone rubble with squared quoins and wooden
lintels; plain-tile roof with brick ridge stack. 2-unit lobby-entry plan with
rear outshut. 2 storeys plus attics. Symmetrical 3-window front has central
entrance, with ashlar flat arch (probably inserted) and a wide plank door, a
small window above, and 3-light casements in the outer bays, those at first
floor with leaded lights. Roof has central clustered stack and 2 gabled C20 roof
dormers. Right gable wall has further oak-framed casements. Small brick gabled
wing rises from centre of rear outshut, probably replacing a timber-framed
structure. Interior: open fireplace in massive central stack with large rounded
inglenooks; quarter-turn stair to rear of stack; butt-purlin roof.
