14/55 The Oast House


Oast house, now house. C17, C19 kiln to rear, C20 conversion and alterations.
Large timber-framing with angle-braces; brick infill; old plain-tile half-hipped
roof. Single storey and attic; 3-window range at right-angles to street. C20
plank door to left. Irregular fenestration of C20 casements. 2 gabled dormers.
Rear: C19 red brick kiln to right with pyramidal plain-tile roof with wood
louvred cowl at apex. Interior: Arch-braced collar truss roof. Floor beams and
joists survive.
