13/125 Pond House


House. c.1760. Front of Flemish bond brick with flared headers, rest of chalk
rubble with brick dressings. Gabled old tile roof; brick end stacks. 2-unit
plan. 2 storeys and attic; 3-window range. Segmental arch over C20 door and
entry to left of blocked doorway. Segmental arches over 3-light casements with
stone sills. Dentilled eaves; roof dormer. One-bay range to left of one storey
and attic, with chalk rubble walls, gabled C19 tile roof, 3-light casement and
dormer. Interior: 2- and 6-panelled doors. Timber-framed partition to left:
brick fireplace to right. The range to the left was used as the Village Reading
Room before the Village Hall was built in 1895.
