GV II

Gatepier. Early C17. Limestone, with some brick to left. Rusticated quoin strips
and right side wall. Ashlar front and rear walls have round-headed niches.
Moulded plinth and entablature: curved finial. This was one of a pair which
formed the main southern entry to the Manor House bought by Speaker Lenthall in
1634: a map of 1724 shows their former context.
