11/173 Nos 3 and 4 (Field Cottage)


Two cottages, now house. Late C17 to early C18. Uncoursed chalk rubble on
sarsen base; chalk quoins; thatched roof; brick stacks. 2-unit plan. 1 1/2-
storey, 5-window range. C20 doors and windows (some window openings have been
widened), except one C18 two light leaded casement. Hipped roof; end stacks.
Interior: Complete set of chamfered and stopped beams and joists; 3-bay common
rafter roof. C20 lean-to against left gable; brick and concrete block to right.
