11/175 Lilac Cottage


House. Early C18. Squared and coursed chalk on sarsen base, chalk block quoins;
thatched roof; brick stacks. 2-unit plan. 2-storey, 3-window range. Central C20
door with club and plain tile cladding to C20 timber porch. Chamfered timber
lintel over 3-light leaded casements. Gabled roof, end and rear lateral stacks.
Interior: Room to right has stone fireplace with moulded surround and mid C19
iron door to bread oven; room to left has deep chamfered beam with ogee stop,
which is also applied to the fireplace bresummer; 1st floor room to right has
stone fireplace with moulded surround and there is a timber-framed partition to
the rear wing; collar-truss, butt purlins.
