Dovecote. Circa 1755-7, possibly by Richard Woods or by John Wood the younger, for Sir Robert Throckmorton of Buckland House [qv]. Squared and coursed limestone, ashlar quoins and rusticated dressings. Stone tile hipped roof. Octagonal on plan. Gothick style. Each side has a pointed blind arch, the NE side has doorway inset with cambered brick arch and plank door. Above, blind quatrefoils alternating with blind loops. Rusticated bands at storey level and at eaves and rusticated plinth. Small octagonal lantern with arcaded sides and stone tile roof with ball finial. INTERIOR: Walls are lined in red brick with nesting boxes in chequer pattern with brick ledges. Potence strengthened by diagonal braces.
