Listing Text

2/32 Barcote Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Early C17. Coursed limestone rubble, limestone ashlar dressings;
stone slate roof; limestone ashlar ridge stack and rendered brick stack to
right. L-plan. 2 storeys and attic; 7-window range. Flat gauged brick arch over
6-panelled door with overlight. Chamfered timber lintels and flat gauged brick
arches over mid C20 two-light cross windows, except one late C17 two-light cross
window to right side of first floor and two 2-light wood-mullioned windows, one
of which has blocked an old doorway, to right of door. Gabled roof dormers have
2-light leaded casements. Hipped roof to left, gabled to right; two ridge stacks
and one late C19 gable end stack to right; early C17 ridge stack to left has 4
flues with moulded bases and caps. Left side wall: 3-window range. Two early C17
four-light stone-mullioned and chamfered windows, one blocked, the other
retaining original leaded lights; to left of these is one original doorway with
chamfered and square-headed stone architrave blocked by an early C18 two-light
leaded casement: to left of blocked doorway are timber lintels over one early
C18 two-light casement and an early C18 three-light wood mullioned casement.
Rear of left side wing has hipped roof adjoining similar hipped two-storey wing
with C18 two-light leaded casement.
