School and schoolhouse. 1856-7, by G.E. Street. Coursed limestone rubble,
limestone ashlar dressings; Welsh slate roof. One storey; 3 bay, 2:1
fenestration with gabled bay to right brought forward. Pointed arch over plank
door adjoining right gable; mid C20 lean-to porch. Pierced lunette over
three-light stone mullioned and transomed window with cusped heads to right
gable; left front has similar window with trefoiled centre light in gabled
half-dormer, 3-light mullioned window with cusped heads and two offset
buttresses.Gabled roof with decorative ridge tiles, conical ventilator and iron
bellcote with pyramidal roof; offset rear lateral stack. Similar 3-light window
with cusped heads to left gable wall and similar transomed window set in gabled
half dormer to right side wall. Late C19 gabled extension to rear in similar
materials has 3-light mullioned and transomed window in gable wall; adjoining
mid C20 extension in similar style has artificial stone walling and is built
onto rear late C19 lean-to with plain pointed arch to doorway. To rear right is
one and a half storey schoolhouse of 1856-7 built in similar style and materials
to school with pointed arch over plank door; stack adjoining rear wall of
school, gable end stack to rear and offset lateral stack to left. Interior not
inspected.
