2/191 Challow Head


Farmhouse, now house. C17, mid C18 front range. Colourwashed brick; old tile
roof; brick stacks. L-plan. 2 storeys; 3-window range. C20 door. Segmental
arches over early C20 two-light casements and blind window over door. Storey
band. Gabled roof; large rear lateral stack. To rear right is one storey and
attic, 4-window range with rendered walling over original timber frame, gabled
old tile roof and brick ridge stack; C20 door, early C20 casements and 2 gabled
dormers. Outshut with gabled dormer to left side. Interior: Mid C18 dog-leg
staircase to rear left of front range, has turned balusters on open string. C17
rear range has chamfered and stopped beams and joists. First floor not inspected
but likely to be of interest.
