(East side)
SU2397 Nos 4 and 5
Pair of semi-detached houses. 1894. In Cotswold vernacular style by Sir
Ernest George and Alfred Yeates built for Alexander Henderson of Buscot Park
as recorded on a date stone on the W front. Coursed rubble stone, stone
dressings and gabled stone tiled roof with stone ridge stacks. The 2
dwellings form an L shaped plan of 2 storeys with 2- and 4-light mullioned
windows with leaded glazing on W front and above, a 7-light mullioned window
with datestone in central light which serves both houses. The stone tiled
roof, meticulously laid in diminishing stages projects on carved brackets
over 2 Tudor-arched doorways to N and S to form porches.
