EATON HASTINGS LECHLADE ROAD (South
SU29NE Nos 8-11 (consecutive)
Block of 4 dwellings. 1893 by Sir Ernest George and Alfred Yeates for
Alexander Henderson of Buscot Park as recorded on a datestone under the
central gabled projection. A fusion of Cotswold vernacular and collegiate
Gothic style. Coursed rubble stone and stone dressings with gabled stone
tiled roofs and stone stacks with moulded caps. 2-storeys; 3- and 4-light
flat headed mullioned windows with leaded casements, plank doors with leaded
lights under the Tudor arched doorways. Ball finials to gable ends. Set
back from Nos 6 and 7 (q.v), and with them and Nos 12-14 (consec.) (q.v.)
known collectively on Roadside Cottages.
