Drinking Fountain on
Green opposite the
- Shaven Crown

Drinking fountain. Dated 1878. Stone with slate corner piers and lion's mask
spout. Consists of a stone trough, a square plan plinth with corner shafts and
florets in the cornice; cross gabling and a spirelet on top. The gablets are filled
with brass plaques - mostly concerning the erection of the fountain to commemorate
the loss of 28 emigrants from Shipton to New Zealand in a blaze aboard the Ship
Cospatrick.
