Farmhouse, now cottages. C17 altered early C18 to mid C19. Rubble, partly coursed,
freestone quoins, timber lintels; Cotswold stone roofs, mixed brick and stone
chimneys. In plan: cottage now angled 4 times to contour of land. Two storeys.
Shepherd's Cottage: entered by a large irregular extension to left (basically a
set-back cottage with C19 catslide); the main part has one range of 3-light casement
windows, on ground floor retaining oak hollow chamfer mullions. Spring Hill has 3
windows on first floor, 3-light casements, the right-hand ground floor window has
hollow chamfer oak mullions; central moulded doorway with urn stops, 6-panel door,
upper 2 cut away and glazed.
No 2 Spring Hill Cottages is angled twice; first part has gable projection with
bread oven and one range of 2-light casements, the right-hand part has 2 gabled
half-dormers, a ledged door and a 3-light casement to the right. Gabled extensions
to rear; only Shepherd's Cottage retaining stone slates. Spring Hill Cottage is
marked as No 2 on OS sheet while No 2 is marked as No 1.
