6/5 Beaconsfield Farmhouse:
sheltershed and cottage range
approx. 50m to SW

Shelter sheds and cottage. Late C18/early C19. Coursed limestone rubble with
marlstone-ashlar dressings; corrugated-asbestos roof. L-shaped plan. South range
of 9 bays, including a wider bay formerly a through way, now infilled with
weatherboarding and rubble between posts. East range of 5 bays remains open
fronted. Gables have stone parapets. Extending from end of south range, against
end of barn (q.v.), is a single-storey single-unit cottage with a 3-light
stone-mullioned window and label, and a stone stack built against the gable wall
of the barn. Interiors not inspected. Beaconsfield Farm is on the site of a
Roman villa. Included for group value.
