GREAT TEN THE GREEN

Row of 2 cottages and a shop. C17, extended C18 and re-modelled early C19.
Coursed marlstone rubble with some ashlar dressings; thatch roofs with rendered
stacks. Single-unit plans plus added rear wing. One storey plus attic. Front has
3-light stone-mullioned windows with labels to centre and right units, above
which wall rises to contain small 2-light dormer casements; left bay (shop) has
a large ashlar 4-light canted bay window with moulded stone mullions. Doorways
between units have chamfered stone basket-arched surrounds below labels with
carved lozenge stops; a similar lower door to extreme left is the shop entrance.
All decorative features are probably early C19. Windows have lattice glazing.
C18 wing to rear of No.22 (right) has renewed windows. Interiors not inspected
but No.23 noted as having a raised-crick: roof structure.
