Cottages

GV II

Row of 4 cottages. 1863 by Charles Buckeridge. Coursed squared limestone with
ashlar dressings; concrete plain-tile roof with partly-rebuilt stone stacks.
Single-bay double-depth plans. Gothic-revival style. One storey plus attics.
Symmetrical 6-window front has, in the centre, a pair of pointed-arched doorways
with chamfered surrounds and ornamental hinges, above which are small single
lights with transoms; the other bays have stone mullioned-and-transomed windows,
of 2 and 3 lights. All openings have marlstone relieving arches. Main first
floor windows are half dormers in 4 stone gables. Similar doors and windows in
ends. Interiors not inspected. Intended as almshouses.
