11/106 Manor Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse. Late C16/early C17, altered C18 and C19. Marlstone rubble with some
ashlar dressings and timber lintels; Welsh-slate and concrete plain-tile roofs
with brick gable stacks. 3-unit through-passage plan. 2 storeys and one storey
plus attic. 2 slated bays to right of front are higher and have a central
4-panel doorway, probably inserted, with, to right, a 3-light casement set
within the lowered stone surround of a 4-light mullioned window with label; to
left is a 3-light casement, and at first floor are two 2-light casements, all
with leaded glazing. Lower tiled bay, to left, contains the wide passage door, a
3-light leaded casement and a large C20 roof dormer. Rear of higher bays retains
a 4-light stone-mullioned window with label and a leaded 2-light casement. C19
roof projects over irregular rear wall. Fourth bay, to extreme left, was
formerly an outbuilding. Interior: large inglenook fireplace backing onto
through passage; stop-chamfered joists spanning between heavy chamfered spine
beam and lateral beams.
