14/143 Crown House


House. Early C18. Coursed squared marlstone; artificial stone-slate roof with
limestone-ashlar gable stacks. L plan. 2 storeys plus attic. Symmetrical
3-window front has leaded cross windows on each floor, all with flat arches; the
central ground floor window probably replaces a doorway. Roof has gable
parapets, 2 gabled roof dormers, and double-shafted stacks with plinths and
cornices. Left end returns to rear wing with further leaded casements and cross
windows. Interior not inspected.
