Grange Farmhouse

Barn and granary. Early C18, partly rebuilt or extended mid C18. Marlstone
rubble; Welsh-slate and Stonesfield-slate roof. 4-bay plan with opposed doors to
right of centre. Rear has a lower door and a stable door in the left bay. Roof
is partly stone slate. 2-storey granary to right of barn facing to rear has a
stone stair against the gable wall of the barn. Interior: 2 bays to left of barn
have through purlins (mostly renewed) and a ridge purlin on a crossed-principal
truss with halved collar and unjointed tie beam. Remaining later trusses have
fully-jointed collars and tie beams, and all members are chamfered; purlins are
trenched. Included for group value.
