10/16 Church of St. Mary

GV II

Small church. 1863, by J. Clarke. Squared and coursed limestone with ashlar
banding and dressings; gabled stone slate roofs. Nave and chancel. Gothic
Revival style. East gable: round window, with large cross framing 4
quatrefoil-lights, above 2 trefoiled lancets divided by central offset buttress.
North wall of chancel has similar lancet, and vestry with octagonal stack and 2
Caernarvon-arched windows. 3 similar lancets flanking pointed chamfered doorway
to south. Nave: four chamfered lancets to north, and 3 similar lancets flanking
south porch with pointed chamfered doorways. West gable has 2 trefoil-headed
lancets and 2 similar lights to belfry. Interior: mid C19 fireplace and grate in
vestry. Chamfered chancel arch, octagonal font and 4-bay arch-braced nave roof.
