GV II

School and schoolhouse. Built 1858. Coursed squared limestone; gabled stone
slate roof; rendered rear lateral stacks, and terracotta ridge stack to right
wing. L-plan with rear right wing. Gothic style with Jacobean-style
fenestration. One storey and attic. 4-window range front has 4-light
stone-mullioned and transomed windows, divided by central buttress with lancet
set in bellcote. Tudor-arched doorway set in gabled porch adjoining plain
2-storey school house to left. Right side wall, of 3-window range, has similar
transomed windows: right gable end has 3-light Gothic window with head corbels
to hood mould, and a small gabled porch with Tudor-arch over plank door.
Interior: roofs ceiled over. Two cottages to left each of 2-storey, 2-window
range: C20 windows set in chamfered stone architraves, and trefoiled light above
plank door set in pointed chamfered architrave to No.25. Interior not inspected.
