House. Early C16; remodelled in late C16/C17 and c.1800; further c.1900 and C20
alterations. Coursed limestone rubble with roughcast front; gabled stone slate
roof; stone ashlar left end ridge stacks. 3-unit through-passage plan, with
later C17 cross wings. 2 storeys; 3-window range. 2-storey porch to right has
segmental-arched entry: C16 studded door with iron fittings set in moulded wood
architrave. C20 three-light casements. Rear: C18 three-light leaded casements,
roof dormer with 2-light leaded casement and C20 extension. C18 two-storey wing
added to front left: roughcast with gabled old tile roof and stone lateral
stack. late C18 wing to right, much altered c.1900 has c.1950 extension to left:
all roughcast. Interior: stop-chamfered and chamfered beams on ground floor.
Fine early C16 doorway to rear of through-passage has studded door set in
hollow-chamfered round-headed architrave with sunk spandrels. Right room has
remodelled open fireplace and stone steps to cellar; open fireplace with
chamfered bressumer and stone jambs to left. C17framed winder stairs to right
of passage. First floor has chamfered stone fireplace to right, and central
fireplace with chamfered bressumer and stone jambs. Butt-purlin roofs to cross
wings. Roof over hall: 2 early C16 arch-braced trusses remodelled when C17
queen-post trusses were built across them. Drawing by J.C. Buckler c.1826, shows
