20/343 Inglenooks and Violet Cottage

Shown on Ordnance Survey map as Violet Cottage and The White Cottage.
Two cottages. Mid/late C17. Colourwashed limestone rubble; half-hipped thatch
roof; ridge stack of stone finished in C20 brick. 3-unit lobby-entry plan. One
storey and attic; 2-window range. Timber lintels over C20 light in blocked door
to left, C20 plank door to lobby on right and mid/late C19 two-pane sash. Late
C19 outshut with Welsh-slate roof, to front of right bay, has C20 window; late
C19 two-light half-dormer casement. Timber lintel over C20 door in left gable
end. C20 extensions and blocked doorway to rear. Interior of Violet Cottage:
chamfered beam and bread oven to right. First floor has old plank door, post and
pad closed truss, and collar truss next to ridge stack. Inglenooks not inspected
but noted as having chamfered beams and open fireplace.
