GV II

Entrance lodge. Circa 1850, probably by Charles Barry. Dressed limestone with
ashlar dressings. Hipped slate roof with deep overhanging eaves. L-plan, sited
at an angle to the drive. One storey. Plinth with vermiculated rustication,
raised quoins, and eaves band. Pair of integral lateral stone stacks to rear
with octagonal stone shafts. Square bay to left-hand wing with chamfered stone
top and 2-light wooden casement with chamfered stone architrave, and canted bay
to right-hand wing with chamfered top and 1- 2- 1-light wooden casements with
chamfered stone architraves. Single-light casements with chamfered reveals in
faces of wings. Central pair of half-glazed doors in angle, with plain stone
surround and angled lean-to slate porch. Interior not inspected. The lodge, and
associated gatepiers (q.v.), stand at the end of the main drive to Kiddington
Hall (q.v.), which Charles Barry remodelled c.1850. Included for group value.
