15/119 Austin's Farmhouse

Farmhouse, now house. Late C17 with early C18 addition, and mid-C19 and late C20
alterations. Coursed limestone rubble with stone slate roof. Three-unit plan.
Two storeys and attic over basement. South-east front: brick ridge stack
off-centre to left (rebuilt in C20). Two gabled roof dormers with small-paned
wooden casements. 1:2 window front; 2- and 3-light wooden casements to right and
C19 six-pane glazing bar sashes to left, with wooden cills and lintels. Pair of
4-panelled doors to right (lower beaded flush) with hipped lean-to porch. The
left-hand unit is a C18 addition (see straight joint) and was formerly of 2 bays
(see blocked windows). Right-hand gable end with oval datestone, illegible at
time of survey (March 1987), but said to be 1604. Service range to right of one
storey and loft; 4-light wooden and metal casement to left with wooden lintel
and boarded loft door to right. Interior not inspected but owner (March 1987)
reports blocked old fireplace, and large bread oven in service range.
