11/61 Group of 8 chest tombs aoprox.
10m. S of S transept of Church
of St. Mary

Eight chest tombs. Late C17 to early C19. Limestone: Mid C18 tomb to north has
fielded panels and moulded cornice. Early C19 tomb to east, with moulded plinth,
cornice and top, commemorates John Dix, d.1820. Similar early C19 tomb and 2
late C17 bale tombs to west; bale tomb to north, with carved scrolls and
rosettes and spiral fluting to base, is dated 1704: bale tomb to south, with
fluted bale and epitaph on side, commemorates Margaret White, d.1686. Tomb to
west, with fielded panels and moulded plinth, cornice and top, has dates 1833
and 1832. Two low mid C19 tombs not of special architectural interest.
