Police station, now teacher's centre. 1860, by William Wilkinson. Squared and
coursed limestone with ashlar dressings; hipped Welsh slate roof: stone end and
ridge stacks. H-plan main block, with range to rear right. Tudor style, with
French influence. 2 storeys;- 4-window range, arranged 1:2:1. Central range, with
gabled centre, has 2 stone pointed-arched tripartite windows with sashes above
3-bay arcade; inside arcade are 2 plank: doors and 3-light stone-mullioned and
transomed window, all with pointed-arched heads. Plank doors to carriage entry
on left. Fronts of side wings have similar windows and one-light ground-floor
windows; string course. Rear range, of similar materials: one-storey, 3-window
range with 2 plank doors in stop-chamfered architraves and stone-mullioned and
transomed windows. Interior: stairs to left have chamfered newels and balusters.
