Cascade. c.1738-40, by William Kent. Coursed and dressed limestone, with
rock-faced rustication. Pedimented shape, with arch to cascade, surmounted by
lead statue of Venus and flanked by lead swans on moulded drums. Keystone to
arch is a marble memorial stone to Ringwood "an otter of extraordinary saqacity"
and "Tyrant of the Cherwell's Flood". Part of the landscape gardens laid out by
William Kent c.1733-40.
