Garden temple. c.1738-40 by William Kent and William Townesend. Limestone
ashlar; hipped Welsh slate roof. Octagonal plan. Classical style. Pedimented
portico has two Tuscan columns in antis. Moulded cornices and vermiculated
frieze. 6-pane sash with heavy glazing bars to left. Interior: Roman tomb.
Architectural frames to niches and Hellenistic-style relief carving. Part of the
landscape gardens laid out by William Kent between 1733 and 1740. Probably
designed by Kent and built by Townesend.
