15/298 Group of 3 chest tombs approx.
2.5 to 7m S of nave and
chancel of Church of St. Mary
Three chest tombs. Mid/late C18 and early C19. Limestone. Tomb approximately 2.5
metre south of nave and 1 metre east and south porch: moulded plinth and
cornice, with corner balusters and beaded panels; commemorates Anne Sotham,
d.1807, William Sotham, d.1837, and others. Similar tomb approximately 3 metres
south of chancel, with fielded panels and rococo carbouches to end panels,
commemorates William Killingworth, d.1767, and Grace Killingworth, d.1740.
Similar tomb approximately 7 metres south of chancel, with sunk-chamfered
panels, commemorates William Johnson, d.1782 and another d.1767.
