5/62 Group of 4 chest tombs approx.
15m SW of south aisle of
Church of St. Nicholas
Group of 4 chest tombs. C17, C18 and early C19. Limestone. Southernmost tomb is
dated 1647. Moulded plinth and elaborately moulded top; south side has narrow
fielded panels to angles, and central baluster. 2 rounded panels have
inscriptions in relief; north side has similar panels with date. East end has
long inscription in Latin, and shield of arms. 2 central tombs are early C18;
the first is dated 1723(?). Moulded top and square angle balusters. Each has 2
fielded panels to one side. Northernmost tomb has moulded top, fluted corners
and incised panels.
