5/240 Court Farmhouse
27/08/57 (Formerly listed as Gateway to
the old Manor House)
Farmhouse, now house. Early/mid C17; altered mid/late C20. Limestone rubble.
Stone slate double-span roof; external and 2 ridge stacks have large ashlar
shafts with moulded cornices. Double-depth plan. 3 storeys; 4-window range. Main
front to garden is irregular. Third bay has a 2-storey porch with Tudor-arched
doorway and moulded spandrels in chamfered surround; C20 double-leaf 6-panelled
doors. Moulded string course. First floor has partly-renewed 2-light window;
recessed ovolo-moulded mullioned windows throughout. Panel immediately below it
has triangular-headed inner panel with incised and moulded frame. Coped gable
parapet has kneelers with obelisk finials. Second bay has large 2-storey,
4-light canted bay window. Other windows are of 3 lights, with hood moulds to
ground and first floors. Rear, now entrance front, is a 3-window range. Mid/late
C20 porch with Tudor-arched double-leaf doors. Ground floor has some 4-light
windows, and 2 irregular relieving arches. Other windows of 3 lights are almost
wholly renewed. Single-storey ranges at right angles are largely C20. Interior
not inspected.
