House. Late C13; remodelled and bay to right added in late C16/early C17; later
additions and alterations. Coursed limestone rubble; gabled stone slate roof;
end and lateral stacks of stone finished in brick; rear wing has C13 conical
chimney, renewed in C20. L-plan with shell of medieval hall to front and chamber
block in rear right wing. 2-storey, 3-window range front flanked by gabled
projecting bays. c.1830 stone lintels over tripartite sashes flanking 6-pane
sashes. 3-storey outer bays have moulded string courses and kneelers to coping;
c.1830 sashes to left; moulded stone doorway with basket arch and sunk spandrels
to inner porch on right, which has round arch over fine studded door, and C19
three-pane sashes set in C17 revealed straight-cut architraves with first-floor
label mould. To rear left is C20 lean-to porch and late C17/early C18
wood-mullioned and transomed cross windows with leaded lights. L-shaped wing to
rear; includes shell of C13 chamber block to front, with C13 chimney to rear,
and 2-light leaded casements; late C17 two-storey block to rear of C13 stack has
half-hipped roof; 2-storey, one-bay block to rear has mid C19 canted bay window
with sashes to rear and C13 pointed chamfered lancet to left. Interior:
stop-chamfered beans, C17 plank doors, late C17 bolection-panelled doors and C18
and C19 panelled doors. Bressumer over large open fireplace to left; room to
right has late C17 bolection-moulded architrave to fireplace, and late C17
winder stairs to rear. First floor: C18 linen cupboards at top of stairs; late
C16 panelled room with panelled closet to left; mid C18 fireplace to rear left;
rear room of C13 chamber block has heavy tie beam and late C13 Caernarvon-arched
fireplace with early C19 duck's-nest grate, and winder stairs to attic.
