House. Late C17, extended to rear in late C18 and refronted c.1840. Coursed
limestone with mid C19 brickwork to parapet; rendered front with raised quoin
strips. Gabled stone slate roof; brick left end stack. 2-unit plan with
through-passage extended to L-plan. 2 storeys; symmetrical 2-window range.
Wrought-iron brackets support flat hood over six-panelled (2 glazed door). Mid
C19 canted bay windows with plate-glass sashes on first floor; parapet with
blind revealed panels. Rear: stair-turret with hipped roof and small C20
extension; late C18/early C19 rear right wing with concrete tile roof. Interior:
passage has late C17 plank and stud partitions with muntins tenoned into central
rail. Stop-chamfered beans to right and on first floor. Early C19 open-well
staircase with stick balusters and ramped handrails. Formerly the Adam and Eve
Public House.
