Farmhouse and stable. Early/mid C18, possibly partly C17. Coursed limestone
rubble with some ashlar dressings; concrete plain-tile roof with rendered brick
stacks. Central-stair plan with rear outshut and subsidiary range. 2 storeys
plus attic and 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-window front of taller main range has
2-light casements at first floor, but at ground floor has large 3-light
casements flanking the central 6-panel door; all have ashlar flat arches.
Steep-pitched roof has gable stacks. Lower 2-window range, breaking forward to
right, has flat arches to the left bay, which includes a secondary entrance, but
has wooden lintels to the casements of the right bay; roof has a central
stone-based stack. Interior: 2 large open fireplaces, that in the lower range
possibly C17. The name is said to be derived from the farm's medieval ownership
by Winchcombe Abbey.
