GV II

Lych gate. 1856 by G. E. Street. Timber-framing and limestone ashlar;
Stonesfield-slate roof. Gothic style. Low stone side walls with an open arcaded
timber upper stage support 2 arch-braced collar trusses and the steep-pitched
roof. The chamfers of the wooden posts and bressumers are carved with 4-petalled
flowers, the collars with crenellations, and the arched braces and bressumers
with inscriptions, one commemorating members of the Marshall family. Included
for group value.
