Substantial house. Early C18 and late C18, altered C20. Limestone ashlar and
coursed limestone rubble with wooden lintels; Stonesfield-slate roofs with
ashlar stacks. 2-unit through-passage plan extended to 0 plan. 2 storeys plus
attic and 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-window ashlar front of c.1790, with
rusticated quoins and moulded stone cornice, has 12-pane sashes at first floor,
but at ground floor has early-C20 bay windows flanking the central doorway with
plain architrave and double-stepped keyblock. Roof has gable parapets bearing
stacks with plinths and moulded caps. Lower earlier range, returning from right,
has a 3-window arrangement with a central doorway, 3-light leaded casements in
bays 2 and 3, and-in bay one a 12-pane sash above a 4-light casement; there is a
further leaded casement in the gable wall of the taller range. Short wing
returning from right end of lower range was formerly a stable and has external
stone steps. Interior: later range has a central stair with wreathed handrail
and stick balusters.
