Shelter shed and cartshed. Possibly C17 and early C19. Coursed limestone rubble
with some ashlar dressings; Stonesfield-slate and corrugated-iron roofs with an
ashlar stack. L-shaped group. Earlier taller cartshed range is 5 bays long, and
is open for 3 bays of the front and at one end. Later range, linked to the front
by a stone wall, has a lower stone-slated roof with ashlar gable parapets, and
has 4 open-fronted bays and a further enclosed section with a gable stack and
double doors in the end wall. Interiors: earlier range has trusses with collar,
tiebeam, and the principals crossed at the apex to carry a ridge piece; it
probably originally served as a shelter shed. Shelter shed retains the wooden
manger. Range forms a close group with farmhouse (q.v.) and barns (q.v.).
