One of a pair of gatepiers. C17. Limestone ashlar. Large square pier with
rustication bands, pulvinated frieze, moulded cornice and slightly ogee top.
Missing finial. Side to gateway has pilaster with scroll top. On west side is a
wider projection with seat in semi-circular niche with twin-arched head and
impost band. This pier and that 150m to south-east of Broadwell Manor (q.v.)
flank entrance to former manor house, destroyed by fire 1670.
