17/5 Chest tomb to Fletcher Family
and head and foot stone
approx. 8m N of N transept of
Church of St. Nicholas
Chest tomb and head and foot stones. Chest tomb c.1730. Stone. Rectangular. 2
inscribed panels to each side with ribbon and flower carved strips to centre,
and winged head and flower carved strips to left and right. Cartouche to east
end with rococo scroll surround. Plain inscribed panel to west end. Cornice
moulding to top slab. Bale top with shell-lined niches having sculls to ends.
Ribs to centre and ends, centre having flaming urn finial, finials to left and
right missing. Head and foot stone. Dated 1678. Stone. Square inscribed framed
panels with scrolls tops. All inscriptions worn.
