GV II

2 attached cottages. Mid- and late C17 with eaves of late C17 part raised C19;
restored c.1939 by Clough Williams Ellis for Mrs. Anthony Gillson of Cornwell
Manor (q.v.). Roughly coursed limestone rubble; concrete tile roof. Basic L-plan
comprising north range on east-west alignment, extended at right-angles to south
on east in late C17. One storey and attic. North range (south side) has two C19
casements with wood lintels to centre and doorways with C20 conical stone slate
hoods to left and right, left with boarded door right glazed. Small casement
directly below eaves to right of right window, gabled half-dormer to centre and
gabled dormer in bottom of roof slope to left. Tapering rubblestone ridge stack
by Clough Williams Ellis to left of centre. Slightly lower range attached to
left gable end. Rear of north range has C19 leaded casements to left and two C20
windows to right. Gabled dormer in bottom of roof slope to left of centre with
straight joint to left; gabled half dormer to left. Interior. East range has
chamfered spine beam to ground-floor room. Included for group value.
