House. Mid-C17 with later additions and alterations. Regularly coursed limestone
rubble with alternating angle quoins; slate roof with coped verges to left gable
end. 2 storeys and attic. 2 late C19 casements with wood lintels directly below
raised eaves, 3-light chamfered mullion window to left and one of 2 lights to
right of central C20 half-glazed door with flat hood, both mullion windows with
dripstones. 2 late C19 gabled dormers directly below ridge. Integral end stacks,
left paired and rebated, both with moulded dripstones and capping. Left gable
end has 2-light chamfered mullion window with dripstone on first floor and small
C19 casement to attic. Late C18/C19 range projecting to right with another C19
range adjoining on road side is said to be former agricultural outbuilding but
is now converted to domestic use. Interior. Inspection of ground floor only
possible at time of resurvey (August 1987). Chamfered spine beams to both rooms,
left massive with stepped diamond stops, right with stepped ogee stops and
chamfered joists with straight-cut stops. Left room has inglenook fireplace with
chamfered wood lintel and spice of salt cupboard to right. Infilled doorway to
dividing wall in angle with front wall adjoining front door. Oak winder
staircase to front right corner of right room, renewed to first flight and said
to continue to attic. Left room on first floor is said to have chamfered stone
Tudor-arched fireplace.
