Cottage. Early C17 with later additions and alterations. Roughly coursed
limestone and ironstone rubble; stone slate roof. 2-room central cross-passage
plan. One storey and attic. Small late C20 casements with wood lintels to left
and right of central chamfered doorway with gabled hood and C20 ledged door.
Raking half-dormers directly above windows. Integral end stacks, left ashlar
with moulded dripstone and capping, right rebuilt in engineering brick above
original dripstone. Interior. Continuous chamfered spine bean (with stepped ogee
stops to left room) and exposed joists to ground floor. Stone-flag floor to
central passage, which is lined by wainscot panelling said to have cone from
Church of St. John the Baptist (q.v.). Doors to left and right rooms made up
from same panelling. Double butt-purlin collar truss roof in 3 bays visible in
roof space. Window to back wall on ground floor is blocked by addition of Rose
Cottage (not included in this list) to rear.
