Barn, attached cowhouse and
6/112, 9/112 cart shelter approx. 10m E of
Idbury House Farmhouse

Barn, cowhouse and cart shelter. Barn. Late C17/early C18 with later
alterations. Roughly coursed limestone rubble; corrugated iron roof with coped
verges to north gable end. Wide doorway with plank doors and wood lintel to far
left, wide doorway with opposing entrance to rear to left of centre and plank
door to right. Triangular air vents to north gable end. Mid-C19 cowhouse with
hayloft above attached to south gable end. Roughly coursed limestone rubble;
slate roof. Stable door to centre; C20 centre-hung casement to left has hoist
doorway with plank door and gable breaking eaves directly above. Reset
rectangular chamfered window immediately to right of stable door is cut by later
lean-to. 2-light chamfered mullion window (also presumably reset) on first
floor to right gable end. 4-bay cart shelter attached at right-angles to east of
barn on road side, probably early C19, with wooden posts to front and roughly
coursed rubble to back wall; corrugated iron roof. Interior of barn has collar
and tie beam roof in 5 bays with double butt-purlin roof in 3 bays with raking
struts to principal rafters (below lower set of purlins); also struts from
collars to principal rafters. Collar and tie beam roof with double butt-purlins
to cart shelter.
