17/123 Bricks Cottage

GV II

Cottage. Late C17, extended C19 with minor later additions and alterations.
Roughly coursed marlstone rubble; straw thatch and slate roofs. Original 2-cell
plan, extended to right with outbuildings to each side, right heightened in C19.
One storey and attic. Road side has C19 casement on either side of flush 4-panel
door to original part; C19 leaded casement to right of straight joint and
casement to left outbuilding, all with wood lintels. Integral ashlar end stacks
(left rebuilt C20) to cottage and integral end stack with purple engineering
brick shaft to left outbuilding. Rear has C19 verandah over C19 casement with
plank doors to left and right. C19 casement to right of verandah. 3 eyebrow
eaves dormers with leaded casements. Interior. Inspection not possible at time
of resurvey (August 1987) but likely to be of interest.
