7/128 Grange Cottage

GV II

House. Late C17 with eaves raised and minor later additions. Roughly coursed and
banded limestone and marlstone rubble with alternating angle quoins; stone slate
roof. Central-passage plan. 2 storeys and gable-lit attic. Windows to either
side of roughly central 4-panel door (top panels now glazed) under bracketed
flat stone hood; chamfered mullion windows with dripstones, all of 3 lights
except lower right of 4. Ridge stack to right of entrance has dripstones and
paired and rebated shafts with moulded capping; inserted rendered integral end
stack to left. Possibly original (no straight joint) lean-to to left gable end
and C19 lean-to to rear on right. Interior. Only partial inspection possible at
time of resurvey (August 1987). Ground-floor rooms with chamfered ceiling beams.
