7/156 House immediately to NE of
Trinder's Farmhouse


House. Mid-to late C18 with later additions and alterations. Roughly coursed
marlstone rubble; stone slate roofs with coped verges. 3- or 4-unit baffle-entry
plan. 2 storeys and attic. 4-window front; 2 segmental-headed 3-light leaded
casements to left on first floor with 16-paned glazing bar sash and tripartite
sash window directly below eaves to third bay from and to right respectively.
Ground floor has segmental-headed 3-light leaded casement to left, apparently
cutting through earlier infilled opening and canted bay window with leaded
casements to second bay from left. Flush 6-panel door under bracketed stone
pedimented hood in third bay from left and canted bay window with horned glazing
bar sashes to right. Hip-roofed dormers with 2-light leaded casements to left
and right. Integral ashlar end stacks with moulded dripstones and capping and
similar ridge stack with shaft rebuilt directly above entrance. Lower range
attached to right has 3-light segmental-headed leaded casement on each floor and
truncated integral end stack. Lean-to attached to gable end. Interior.
Inspection not possible at time of resurvey (August 1987) but likely to be of
interest. C20 additions to rear are not of special architectural interest.
Trinder's Farmhouse is not included in this list.
